Skiing in the surrounding ski areas with perfect pistes for all levels of difficulty, ski tours in the beautiful Ratschinger Valley, snowshoeing through unspoilt landscapes or tobogganing on Italy's longest floodlit toboggan run - if you need any more tips, just ask us.

Around 53 kilometres of pistes in the three ski areas of Monte Cavallo (5 km away), Racines-Giovo (15 km) and Ladurns (16 km) await you for a skiing holiday in Vipiteno with top snow conditions and great views of the surrounding mountains. Ski schools and ski rental as well as modern lifts and rustic huts for a quick stop are available.
A ski bus runs from our village to the nearby ski areas. The ski areas of Plose, Gitschberg-Jochtal, Plan de Corones, the famous Sellaronda as well as Val Gardena and Val d’Ega can also be reached from Bircher.

Rustic mountain huts, perfect hiking trails & rapid descents
We can’t list all the toboggan runs in our neighbourhood. However, one highlight is definitely the longest floodlit toboggan run in Italy on the Monte Cavallo mountain.
It is 10 km long and can be reached with the Monte Cavallo cable car. The run is also regularly floodlit in the evening for spectacular moonlight tobogganing! Toboggans are of course also available to hire. An unforgettable experience for all toboggan fans.

Cross-country skiers’ hearts beat faster in Val di Vizze, Val Ridanna and Fleres.
Cross-country skiing is an ideal cardiovascular workout, works all parts of the body and also has a positive effect on the mind. There are popular cross-country skiing areas nearby, such as the Vizze and Fleres valleys and the Val Ridanna cross-country skiing centre. The wintery Ridanna Valley is a true paradise for winter sports enthusiasts.
The valley is famous for guaranteed snow in winter, and the 20 kilometres of cross-country ski trails are regularly professionally groomed for competitions.
An equipment rental and shop provides you with cross-country skis, boots and poles if required.

That's what every ski tourer dreams of, isn't it? The mountains of Sterzing, Ratschings and Gossensass make it possible and offer the ideal ambience for a ski touring holiday in South Tyrol. The area around the Alpine town offers almost countless touring options and is also snow-sure thanks to its proximity to the main Alpine ridge.
Whether it's the Grange Punta di Montecroce or Piccola Punta di Montecroce, Einachtspitze, Ellesspitze, Fastnachter or Fleckner - we'll be happy to give you a tip or two in person.

Trudging through snow-covered forests, when the sun's rays make the fresh powder snow glisten like in the most beautiful winter fairy tale, or wading along prepared winter hiking trails to rustic huts - winter hiking in South Tyrol is something special. Whether Flaner Jöchl, Malga Prantneralm, sentiero della Val di Vizza or winter hiking trail Kematen / Val di Vizze, to Magla Allriss or Hühnerspielhütte - we will be happy to give you a tip or two to suit your taste.
